Our assemblies
Primary Collective Celebrations
Our Primary department has an assembly in the hall every week. This is a time where we come together to celebrate our pupils’ learning achievements, successes and awards. We also collectively celebrate by singing together at the end of our assembly.
Our Work
Each class will share work from the week that they are proud of. This will be work that is based around our learning topic for that half-term. We will also support the children to share photographs and videos of their learning time. Primary teachers are also encouraged to share any ‘wow’ moments that have developed throughout the week. This helps our pupils to develop an understanding of the learning activities their peers and themselves have been focusing on.
Class Teachers will share pupils work based on the following topics:
Autumn | Spring | Summer |
Communication | People who help us | Inside the Big Top |
Toys through time | Rumble in the Jungle | Under the Sea |
Our Achievements
Each Primary class Teacher will select a pupil from their class each week to present a merit certificate to. Merit certificates can be achieved for many different things and not just learning success.
Pupils may receive a merit certificate for one of the following:
- Being a kind friend
- Always trying their best
- Reading at home
- Trying their best to work independently
- Having a fantastic swimming lesson
- Taking part in an activity for the first time
Pupils also have the opportunity to share any achievements that have taken place outside of school.
Our Voice
Children will learn the words and Makaton signs to each of the chosen songs and also have opportunities to play instruments. Our Primary pupils will access each song in an appropriate way that is right for them.

Celebrating with Parents and Carers
At the end of each half-term we will invite our parents and carers into school to celebrate all of the above with their child. They will be shown examples of children’s work, learning activities and wow moments. As well as this, pupils are given additional awards as a celebration of their achievements. Each primary class will present a trophy to their chosen pupil who has been recognised for their outstanding achievements throughout the term.
