Holidays in Term Time

Parents should avoid taking their child on holiday during term time. 

Legislation states that parents do not have an automatic right to take their child/children out of school for leave during term time and may be issued with a Penalty Notice.

The legislation only allows the Headteacher to authorise such leave in exceptional circumstances. 

There are 175 non-school days each year during which holidays can be taken without impacting on a child’s learning.
