3KA Roman Topic

As part of our Romans topic in 3KA, we have been learning about volcanoes. We learned that pressure builds under the Earth's crust, causing magma to erupt through as lava with ash, forming a cone-like volcano shape once cooled. We then modelled a volcano eruption by mixing acid and alkali (vinegar and baking powder) to model a pyroclastic flow. We learned that this is fast whereas lava flows are slow. We saw bubbles which meant that gas was being produced. This gas was carbon dioxide which is produced during a real eruption!
