3KA Class Trip to The Museum Of Lancashire World War II

This week class 3KA spent the day with ARP Riley who was an Air Raid Warden. The class made evacuee tags and handled artefacts including those used during the blackout and air raids. They listened to air raid sirens and learned how to communicate using flags to send messages. The class also got to sit in a model Anderson shelter and played some of the games that people would have played whilst in them, such as tiddlywinks and card quoits. They also made paper airplanes and tested how far they flew. They observed differences between British and German fighter and bomber planes, looking at their shapes and the sounds they made. They then learned about rationing and saw the amounts of food people would get for a week. The class had a great day brining their classroom learning to life, please see below for some pictures of the day!
